Memo
£i1 CmG -ASSO(I.AT -CS
TO: Mayor Blesener & Members of the City Council
FROM: Lee Elfering, City Engineer
DATE: March 3, 2005
RE: 2885 Centerville Road
Filling and Grading Permit
Permit Request
An on -site visit was made to 2885 Centerville Road to review a grading permit request.
The proposed grading will include the construction of two earthen berms west of
Centerville Road to act as a barrier to vehicle traffic. The berms are proposed to be
landscaped with plant and rock material. The homeowner was not present at the time of
the site visit.
The location of the berms as shown on a sketch by the property owner will not cause
adverse drainage impacts to the adjacent properties with following conditions:
1. The shallow ditch along the west side of Centerville Road should not
be filled in. It appears that this ditch is within the street right -of -way.
2. All grading by the owner should be contained within the property
boundaries.
3. Silt fence should be placed at the property line to prevent loss of soil from the
site during grading operations.
4. All exposed soil areas should have permanent cover in accordance
with the following table of slopes and time frames after grading is
completed:
Type of Slope
Steeper than 3:1
10 :1 to 3:1
Flatter than 10:1
Time to Restoration
7 days
14 days
21 days
We would recommend approval of the permit with the stipulation that the above
conditions be met.
If you have any questions please call me at (763) 434 -5720.
17562 Dunkirk Street — Ham Lake, MN 55304 — (763) 434 -5720 fax (763) 205 -2341
C:\Documents and Settings \joelhanson \Local Settings \Temporary Ir - 1 - ales \OLK232 ■Memo - 030305 -CC -2865 Centerville Rd.doc
