MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MARCH 23, 2005 PARKING REGULATIONS The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour. Ayes (5) LaValle, Montour, Blesener, Allan, Keis Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. Blesener reported that he reviewed the listing ofsstreets outlined in the former Public Works Director's memo dated July 21, 2000 relative to the posting of these streets as 00 parking. In reviewing that listing, Blesener felt that consideration should be given to changing the parking restrictions on the Following streets to only one side: Arcade Sheet (County Road D to Keller Parkway) McMeneniy Street (Little Canada Road to Viking Drive) Viking Drive (MeMenemy Roacl to Edgerton Street) County Road B -2 (Edgerton Street to Arcade Street) Blesener further indicated that his feeling is that traffic safety should be the criteria used for slaking a decision on whether or not to post parking restrictions on a street, not because the street has been designated as part of the City's trail system. LaValle noted that there will be increased traffic on the City's streets as the result of the Unweave the Weave project. The Administrator felt that project will result in a dramatic increase in traffic 00 City streets. Allan agreed that only one side orMclMenemv Road and Viking Drive needed to be posted as 00 parking. She suggested that the vvest side of McMenenly Road be posted no parking and the south side of Viking Drive be posted as no parkins. Blesener felt there was the need to posy the east side of \IeMenenly Road in the area of Sextant as no parking to ensure adequate traffic visibility. Keis asked if Blesener felt there would be a lot of on-street parking on these streets. Blesener did not feel there would be, but again stated that whether or not to post streets as no parking should be done from a traffic safety standpoint and not li'onl a trail standpoint.
