9elll o Cla>Gat a
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
www.ci.little- canada.ntn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: April 22, 2005
RE: 421 Eli Road Compliance Update
MAYOR
Bill Blesener
COUNCIL
Jim LaValle
Rick Montour
Barbara Allan
John Keis
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
As you will recall, we have extended the completion date for Mr. Cossack to complete construction
on his home addition to April 30111. (The original deadline was 12/31/04, extended to 1/31/05, and
extended again to 4/30/05) Failure to comply will result some substantial penalties to Mr. Cossack.
Today, I accompanied the Building Official on his inspection trip to the property. While Mr. Cossack
has continued to make steady progress toward completion, it is questionable as to whether he can
meet the April 30t11 deadline. He is in the process of sheet rocking the walls and ceilings. Once he
has completed that work, the issuance of a certificate of occupancy will be very near.
Therefore, given the progress made by Mr. Cossack and in consideration his "do it your self'
approach, I am recommending we extend the completion date to May 16, 2005. I must emphasize
that additional work would remain such as the completion of stuccoing, and interior finish details.
However, these items do not preclude granting of an occupancy permit.
ec: Pat Sweeney. City Attorney
Steve Westerhaus, Building Official
Jim Cossack
