Hanson
www.ci.little- canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: April 22, 2005
RE: Parking Regulations
Pursuant to Council direction, staff has prepared a tentative recommendation for modifying parking
restrictions for on- street trails. This recommendation is based on staff discussion and input from our
traffic officer, Deputy Tim Entner (see copy of memo attached). It is as follows:
No Changes in No Parking Restrictions (i.e. retain no parking on both sides of the street):
• County Road B2 — Edgerton to Arcade
• LaBore Road — Centerville to County Road D
• Arcade (Keller Parkway to LaBore Road)
The basis for the "no change" recommendation is the volume of pedestrian traffic on these roads as
well as increased traffic impacts from Unweave the Weave. These streets can be reevaluated upon
the completion of that project.
Allow Parking on One Side of the street:
• Arcade — LaBore to County Road D (no recommendation as to which side is restricted)
• McMenemy Street — Little Canada Road to Viking Drive (west side as no parking)
• Viking Drive — McMenemy to Edgerton (south side as no parking)
On McMenemy, staff is recommending that parking in front of St. John's Church and School retain
the current regulations, except that we are recommending additional parking restrictions on the west
side of McMenemy from LC Road to the crosswalk running from the joint parking lot on the east side
of the street to the entrance to the Church. This is being done to improve visibility at the LC Road
McMenemy intersection and to make turns from LC Road onto McMenemy easier during Church
activities. One reason we are recommending parking be restricted on the west side involves
children's access to the school occurring on that side of the street, especially in the area from Demont
2
