MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 10, 2008
Stanke noted that Lee Rossow is in support of being able to rent a portion
of his property to outdoor storage as a principal use. The Council did not
support that concept.
Sandburg pointed out that their business has been in the City for 37 years,
and he felt that this would greatly limit the use of their property. Rustad
suggested that outdoor storage as a principal use could be licensed, and if
the property owners were not in compliance with their license, the City
should not renew the license. Montour pointed out that the City's
experience with outdoor storage has not been good.
Blesener brought the issue back to the Council and Planning Commission
and asked what percentage of outdoor storage in relation to building area
was acceptable. The City Planner reviewed the City Engineer's report on
what is existing in Ryan Industrial Park, noting that 24 of the 31 properties
in the park have outdoor storage areas that range from 150% of the
building size to 400%. The determination of this ratio was left unresolved
at this point.
Blesener then reviewed his recommended changes to the I-1 District as
were outlined on pages 30 and 31 of the agenda.
The City Planner stated that he would prepare draft proposals based on the
discussion tonight for the R-1 District and the I-1 District. These will be
presented to the City Council for their review at the January 30~' Council
meeting.
There being no further business, the workshop meeting was adjourned at
7:22 p.m.
~ _--
i iam ner, Mayor
Attes . 2. /
Joel anson, City Administrator
12
