NUIYOR
Bill Blesener
COUNCIL
Jim LaValle
Rick Montour
Barbara Allan
John Keis
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048 Joel R Hanson
www.alittle-canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: June 3, 2005
RE: Goose Round -up
The time has come once again to authorize a goose round -up within the City. A number of geese
are present in the vicinity of the Market Place Pond and Round Lake. New aquatic plantings
(facilitated by Council Member Allan and the Natural Resources Group from the Watershed)
have recently been completed. To protect them as they establish the geese should be removed.
I have contacted Dr. Cooper who will conduct a survey of our goose population. Based on
previous years, I am estimating a cost of about $3,000 for removal. We will focus on the needed
areas that in the past have included Savage Lake (east & west), Pioneer Park, St. Jude Medical,
Edgewater Town Office Park, and Canabury Townhomes. Staff would recommend we be
authorized to conduct the removal operation based on the recommendations of Dr. Cooper.
