MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 13, 2008
would likely be needed for the Schrier site and the Lapham-Hickey Steel
site. The Council indicated their consensus that the Lapham-Hickey Steel
site would have a higher use than the Public Works garage.
Blesener suggested that there may be some potential for the McGough
redevelopment area, and suggested that the City Administrator contact
Greg Deeb of Roseville Plumbing to determine if he has any interest in
selling his property.
The City Administrator suggested that another potential site is the Drywall
Supply property, pointing out that there is a great deal of undeveloped
land in this area. Soil conditions appear to be peat; therefore, soil
corrections would be needed for this property as well.
The Council discussed potential sites in Ryan Industrial Park, including
the Lee Rossow property and the Meisen Roofing property. The
Administrator noted that Lee Rossow would not be a willing seller and the
Meisen Roofing property is very shallow. Again, soil corrections would
be needed. The Frattalone recycling yard was mentioned, and the
Administrator did not believe that Mr. Frattalone would be a willing seller.
It was noted that Frattalone has an interim use permit for his recycling
operation which expires in September of 2009. The terms of that permit
require that discussions begin on the operation in September of 2008.
Blesener and Allan indicated that they would like to see the recycling
operation eliminated.
The City Administrator indicated that he would contact Greg Deeb and
Carl Johnson to determine if they have any interest in selling their
property for a Public Works Garage site.
GOALS The City Administrator noted that for 2008 the recommendation is that
REVIEW the Council conduct a goals review workshop to review outstanding goals
WORKSHOP and update action plans for finalizing these goals. Input would be sought
from previous attendees relative to goal priorities and any new goals that
they feel are important to address in 2008. The Administrator indicated
that it is anticipated that the City would return to its normal goal setting
process in 2009.
SHERIFF'S The City Administrator presented the Council with updated information
DEPARTMENT on the proposed formula change for allocation of policing costs among
COST the cities contracting with the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department for
FORMULA police protection. He noted that the City of North Oaks is driving the
formula change as it is their position that they are being overcharged for
this service. Little Canada and Vadnais Heights will bear increased costs
4
