MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 13, 2008
*APPROVING THE LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR RUSH LINE
CORRIDOR PROJECT AS RECOMMENDED BY THE MAYOR;
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
REALIGNMENT The City Clerk reviewed her report dated February 7, 2008 recommending
OF PRECINCT realignment of precinct boundaries shifting approximately 400 voters
BOUNDARIES from Precinct 3 (City Center) to Precinct 1 (Roseville Area Middle
School). The Clerk noted that Precinct 1 is a larger facility and better able
to accommodate a larger number of voters. The Clerk felt that the
realignment was important to do in preparation for the 2008 elections
given the extremely large voter turnout that is predicted for this election.
The City Clerk noted that upon completion of the 2010 Census, future
precinct changes may be needed should there be legislative district
changes that result from the Census. Additionally, at that time there may
be the need to add a fourth voting precinct for Little Canada.
The Clerk also pointed out that she is also recommending that
northwestern boundary of Precinct 3 be adjusted to coincide with the
border of School Districts 623 and 621. This change impacts no voters as
the area is commercial and industrial.
The Clerk noted that should the Council approve the realignment
recommended, voters will receive notification from the County of the
change. This change will also be communicated via the City newsletter
and on its Web site.
Ms. Allan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION NO.2008-2-35 -APPROVING THE VOTING
PRECINCT REALIGNMENT AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY
CLERKAS OUTLINED IN HER REPORT DATED FEBRUARY 7,
2008
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
2
