PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />Chapter Page <br />2501. Parks and Recreation Commission 1 -3 <br />2501. PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />2501.010. ESTABLISHMENT OF COMMISSION. A Parks and Recreation Commission <br />is hereby established to advise the City Council on Parks and Recreation related matters. <br />2501.020. COMPOSITION. The Parks and Recreation Commission shall consist of seven <br />(7) members appointed by the City Council. Any member of the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />may be removed by a majority vote of the City Council. <br />2501.030. TERMS AND COMPENSATION. Appointment to the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission shall be made at the first regular January meeting of the City Council or more often if <br />required. Members shall be appointed for three (3) year terms. The existing Commission will serve <br />as appointed until expiration of present terms. Members of the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />may receive a compensation as the City Council shall provide by resolution. <br />2501.040. VACANCIES. In case of vacancy during the term of office of any member of <br />the Commission, the City Council shall appoint a new member to serve the remainder of the term. <br />A vacancy shall exist if any of the following occur: death, residence outside of the City; resignation; <br />and disability or failure to serve. A failure to serve shall be deemed to exist if any member is absent <br />from three consecutive meetings, or is absent from four meetings within a calendar year. A meeting <br />shall be any scheduled regular or special meeting. <br />The provisions relating to absences from meetings shall be retroactive to January 1, 1997. <br />There shall be no excused absences. <br />2501.050. ORGANIZATION. The Commission shall annually elect one member to serve <br />as Chairperson and Vice - chairperson. The Vice - chairperson shall assume the Chairperson's <br />responsibilities in that person's absence. The Chairperson is responsible for the agenda of meetings, <br />presiding at meetings, minutes of meetings and reports and recommendations to the City Council. <br />The Parks and Recreation Department shall maintain all records of the Commission. <br />2501.060. MEETINGS AND REPORTS. The Parks and Recreation Commission shall hold <br />at least one regular meeting each month. It shall adopt rules of procedure for business and shall keep <br />a public record of all motions, resolutions, findings, minutes and reports which shall be reduced to <br />2501 -1 <br />
