MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />APRIL 8, 2004 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Planning <br />Commission of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 8th day of <br />April, 2004 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Chair John Keis called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and <br />the following members of the Planning Commission were present at roll <br />call: <br />PLANNING COMMISSION: <br />Mr. John Keis <br />Mr. Scott Barraclough <br />Mr. Tom Duray <br />Mr. Dan Knudsen (arr. 7:50 p.m. <br />Mr. Gary Rheaume <br />Ms. Kathy Weihe <br />ABSENT: Mr. Tom Wojcik <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Steve Grittman, City Planner <br />Mr. Joel Hanson, City Administrator <br />Mr. Jeremy Brodin, Cable TV Prod. <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer, Deputy Cleric <br />MINUTES The March 11, 2004 Planning Commission minutes were approved as <br />submitted. <br />VARIANCE The City Planner noted the discussion at the previous meeting regarding <br />FROM SIGN Aldi Foods' request for a Variance from the Sign Ordinance to allow <br />ORDINANCE a second wall sign on their building in addition to a pylon sign. As part <br />& of that discussion, the representative from Aldi submitted pictures of <br />TEXT other Rice Street businesses in Little Canada which have two wall signs <br />AMENDMENT as well as a pylon. The Planner noted that most of these signs comply <br />TO SIGN with a series of exceptions to the Sign Ordinance addressing multi- tenant <br />ORDINANCE — buildings, locations on corner lots, or locations within a PUD District. <br />ALDI FOODS <br />The Planner noted that Aldi Foods is on a parcel of property that is not <br />technically considered a corner lot. He also noted that a hardship must be <br />present to warrant the granting of a variance. The other option for <br />
