Park and Ride at Intersection of Rice Street and TH36 — This project is scheduled for a bid opening in
June 2004 with work to start in September 2004. This project is still being designed, however,
attached is a preliminary layout of the proposed project for your information.
Realign County Road D at TH 61 and modify I -694 off ramp — This is actually a joint project between
MNDOT, and the Cities of Maplewood and Vadnais Heights (see attached map). The portion of
County Road D east of TH 61 is scheduled for bid opening in May 2004 with the construction
starting in June 2004. The portion west of TH61 is scheduled to for bid opening in June 2004 with
a construction start in July 2004.
Ramsey County Projects:
Centerville Road overlay in Vadnais Heights — This is the only Ramsey County project that is going to
occur this year that may have an impact on Little Canada. This project is entirely in the City of
Vadnais Heights; however, it will impact Little Canada residents trying to get to and from the Wal-
Mart /Target shopping area on County Road E (just east of 1 -35E). Ramsey County is going to
overlay Centerville Road between Edgerton Street and Horizon Street in June 2004. Due to the
delays on the Edgerton Street Bridge, MNDOT has asked Ramsey County to move this project up to
May 2004. As soon as we can confirm when this project is to occur we will pass it on.
Centerville Road between Little Canada Road and Edgerton Street — Ramsey County is looking into
the possibility of a thin overlay of this section yet this year as a pothole prevention project and to
handle detour traffic when Edgerton Street Bridge is done and the Unweave the Weave project
starts. However, this project does not show up in their project schedules as of this date. It would be
appropriate to accomplish this work while the Edgerton Street Bridge is closed. Once the Unweave
the Weave project is completed, they are planning to reconstruct this section of road.
County Road D between Edgerton Street and TH61 — The reconstniction of this section of road is on
their non - programmed list. This means that it is an identifiable project; however, it is to low on the
priority lists to even be scheduled.
Little Canada Projects:
2003 Street and Utility Project — Park Construction will place the wear course this spring on the streets
we reconstructed last year. Twin City Hydro- Seeding will be in Rondeau Park to complete the
seeding. The seeding at Rondeau Park was delayed due to the installation of the sand box. We will
also seed all damaged and non - growth areas as needed. O'Malley still needs to place black dirt next
to the sidewalks and those areas need to be seeded.
2004 Street and Utility Project — The bid opening for this project is scheduled for April 23, 2004. This
project includes the reconstruction of Middle Street and Twin Lake Road/Twin Lake Trail, as well
as the installation of water main under I -694 and under Twin Lake Road /Twin Lake Trail and a
portion of Twin Lake Blvd. Work on Middle Street and the water line crossings under I -694 will
start as soon as we can finalize the paper work. The street reconstruction and water line installation
in the Twin Lake area will be delayed until June l4th so we can minimize the impact on school
buses.
H: \GregS \Correspondence \Greg S 2004\Arca Construction Project Update.doc
2
