to property owners about code violations with some of the four plexes since the last
neighborhood meeting.
Junk Car Sweep
I wanted to make council aware that with the leave of the trees and upcoming snow it seems to
be the perfect time to start identifying junk vehicles. This is also a practice that has been done in
the past about this same time of year. I have sent letters on this type of issue in the past, but they
have been associated with homes that have had multiple violations.
Junk cars are an ongoing problem. Staff Goals are to take a proactive role on junk car
enforcement.
Jeff Heikke — 2728 Edgerton Street
The retaining wall, which was built without obtaining the necessary permit, has been cut down to
less than 4 feet, therefore no permit requirement. The owner has indicated to me however that a
permit has been issued by the DNR with some stipulations and I am awaiting a copy so that 1 can
verify those are completed before issuing a certificate of occupancy. Ramsey County has
reviewed the site and stated the wall's location is fine. A survey has been done and submitted to
verify the retaining wall is not in the drainage easement. The owner indicated to me the retaining
wall will have an imitation rock facing applied to improve the appearance and intends to
complete the work as weather permits. He has been given a deadline of May 15, 2004. I have
been informed two additional retaining walls are planned with the height to be less than 48
inches but their location is presently undetermined.
Review Past Priorities
I have attached the priority listing set by the City Council at the August 14, 2002. We should
revisit this in light of the above information and any new issues you feel need attention.
El: \JessicaJ \Code Enforcement \Correspondence \Codo Enf 2004 \I -7 Cour _' S _'ate.doc
