MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MARCH 12, 2003 <br />CONSENT <br />AGENDA <br />building without the raceway. Montour felt this was preferable from an <br />aesthetic standpoint. <br />The City Administrator indicated that the architectural guidelines are <br />silent on this issue, therefore, have not precluded raceways. He noted that <br />the letters are still individually lit; it is the mounting system that is <br />different. The Administrator pointed out that under the PUD Permit; <br />however, the Council has the ability to place whatever restrictions it feels <br />appropriate. <br />Council agreed that for future signs at the shopping center, no raceways <br />would be allowed. The Council did not feel that existing signage should <br />have to be replaced. <br />Brent Kabanuk, representing the taekwondo business, informed the <br />Council that they would like to install a 6 -foot by 3 -foot logo sign that <br />would be backlit. They do not plan to install any lettered signage. <br />The Administrator pointed out that there are other backlit logo signs on the <br />shopping center that have been allowed in the past. <br />The Council was agreeable to the logo sign as proposed. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003 -3 -54 — APPROVING A PUD PERMIT FOR <br />A COMPREHENSIVE SIGN PLAN FOR THE MARKET PLACE <br />SHOPPING CENTER SUBJECT TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS <br />OF THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR AND THE CITY PLANNER, <br />SUBJECT TO THE PROH113ITION OF RACEWAY MOUNTING OF <br />ANY FUTURE SIGNS AT THE SHOPPING CENTER, AND <br />ALLOWING THE INSTALLATION OF A 3 FOOT BY 6 FOOT <br />BACKLIT LOGO SIGN FOR THE TAEKWONDO BUSINESS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, LaValle, Montour, Anderson, Blesener. <br />Nays (0).
