iii. Public Notification: THE ENGINEER shall assist <br />THE CITY in providing advance notice to the public for <br />the purpose of informing them as to the timing of the <br />project, impact upon their property, traffic or parking <br />restrictions, and any other pertinent information <br />necessary relative to the project. THE ENGINEER <br />shall also ensure that the Fire Department, Sheriff's <br />Department, School District Transportation <br />representative, and any other appropriate agency or <br />party are informed of key project information to enable <br />them to provide on -going services to the impacted area <br />with minimal disruption. <br />iv. Project Inspection: THE ENGINEER shall provide for <br />on -site inspection of the project, as necessary, to <br />ensure construction by the contractor is done in <br />conformance with the approved construction <br />documents. The Project Inspector shall also be <br />responsible for documenting material quantities used <br />on the project, providing contact for neighborhood <br />questions, for recording pertinent information relative to <br />contract administration, and for detailed field notes to <br />permit the creation of accurate as -built drawings. <br />v. Project Staking: THE ENGINEER shall arrange for all <br />necessary staking and surveying necessary to <br />complete the project as designed. <br />vi. Additional Instruction: THE ENGINEER shall issue <br />such additional instructions to the contractor as may be <br />necessary to interpret the drawings and specifications <br />or to illustrate changes required in the Contractor's <br />work. <br />vii. Contractor's Submittals: THE ENGINEER shall <br />check shop drawings, samples, equipments, approval <br />data, and other data submitted by the contractor for <br />compliance with the drawings and specifications. <br />viii. Change Orders: THE ENGINEER, after consultation <br />with THE CITY, shall prepare Change Orders for work <br />not covered by the Contract Documents or for <br />substantial over -runs of estimated contract quantities. <br />Change Orders shall be processed as soon as <br />practical after written approval has been received by <br />The ENGINEER from THE CITY. <br />ix. Contractor's Requests for Payment: THE <br />ENGINEER shall review the Contractor's request for <br />progressive payment, and based upon on -site <br />observations, advise THE CITY as to THE <br />ENGINEER's opinion of the extent of the work <br />completed in accordance with the terms of the <br />Construction Contract and issue a Certificate for <br />Payment in the amount owed the Contractor.
