MINUTES PLANNING COMMISSION JUNE 10, 2004 Knudsen asked if the majority of the surrounding suburbs allow a 5 -foot setback on one side yard. The Planner replied that many do. The biggest issue for these cities is that the 5 -foot setback is allowed for garage space which results in ensuring that the minimum setback of 10 feet is maintained for living area. Barraclough stated that he supported the Text Amendment, but did not want to require property owners to submit surveys of adjacent properties. Barraclough stated that he also would like to see the Ordinance better define living area. Wojcik stated that he supported the Text Amendment. Keis recommended approval of the Ordinance amending Chapter 905.050 of the Little Canada City Code, known as the Zoning Ordinance, by providing for side yard setbacks for attached garages as submitted by the City Planner with the requirement that the Ordinance include a better definition of living space. Seconded by Wojcik. Motion carried 4 — 1. Knudsen voted against. AMENDMENT The City Planner indicated that in reviewing the Ordinance there are TO ZONING discrepancies in the designation of East Savage Lake and West Savage CODE — Lake within the Shoreland District. The Planner indicated that he DESIGNATION contacted the DNR and was informed that they have West Savage Lake OF SAVAGE designated as a lake and East Savage Lake designated as a wetland. LAKE The DNR indicated, however, that they treat both as lakes when reviewing and acting on shoreland permits. Therefore, the DNR is in support of the City's inclusion of both in its Shoreland District. ADJOURN Knudsen recommended approval of the Ordinance amending Chapter 917.020.A of the Little Canada City Code, known as the Shoreland Zoning Ordinance, by providing for the shoreland classification of Savage Lake. Motion seconded by Rheaume. Motion carried 5 — 0. Wojcik recommended the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Barraclough. Motion carried 5 — 0. -4-
