MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION '
MAY 13, 2004
AMENDMENT
TO THE
ZONING CODE —
RB ZONING
DISTRICT
AMENDMENT
TO ZONING
CODE —
SAVAGE
LAKE
CLASSIFICATION
testrassowaffesswisinvitestoralla
Motion seconded by Knudsen.
Motion carried 6 — 0.
The City Planner indicated that several years ago the minimum lot
size for two - family homes in the R -2 District was increased to 15,000
square feet over the standard 10,000 square feet for a single- family home.
The Planner reported that staff recently noted that the minimum lot size
for a two - family home in the RB District remains at 10,000 square feet,
and it was felt that from a consistency standpoint this minimum should be
increased to 15,000 square feet as well.
Knudsen asked the impact of making this change. The City Planner
reported that there may be some RB properties in the City impacted by the
change, but he did not feel there would be many. He further noted that the
two - family use would be a legally conforming use; therefore, any impact
would be minimal.
Knudsen recommended approval of an ordinance amending Chapter
909.050 of the Little Canada City Code, known as the Zoning Ordinance,
by providing for the minimum lot size for two family structures in the R -2,
Medium Density Residential District.
Motion seconded by Weihe.
Motion carried 6 — 0.
The City Planner indicated that the City's Shoreland District lists West
Savage Lake as a recreation lake, but does not reference East Savage
Lake. The Planner indicated that he is currently working with the
Watershed and the DNR on this issue and is waiting for additional
information. Therefore, the Planner recommended that action on this
Zoning Code amendment be tabled until the June 10th meeting.
Knudsen recommended tabling a Text Amendment to the Zoning Code
relative to the designation of Savage Lake in the Shoreland District until
the June 10, 2004 Planning Commission meeting.
Motion seconded by Wojcik.
Motion carried 6 — 0.
- 1 7 -
