515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
www.ei.little- canada.mn. us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: June 4,2004
RE: Amendment to MnDot Agreement for Rice Street Planning Study
MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Jim LaValle
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
Bill Blesener
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached is Amendment #1 to MnDot Agreement Number 81650 that deals with the joint land
use and transportation planning project for the Rice Street /694 interchange. This project
involves MaDot, Ramsey County, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights, and Little Canada. The
Metropolitan Council was previously involved in the project due to the potential for a transit hub
on the County Garage site. However, this component in no longer under consideration and the
Met Council will no longer be a participant in the project. Also, the completion date has been
extended to allow for the additional time that is needed to address design considerations for the
new Rice Street Bridge over 1 -694.
With Met Council leaving the study, their share of project funding needed to be addressed. The
City of Shoreview has agreed to pick up the additional costs. Little Canada's costs remain at
$3223.50 as a result of this amendment. The only other impact is the extension of the projected
completion date from July 31, 2003 to March 1, 2005.
Staff would recommend execution of this amendment as proposed.
