MINUTES CITY COUNCIL NOVEMBER 24, 2004 Tim Entner will increase enforcement activities in this area. Fahey noted that City staff is also recommending against the three -way stop. The City Administrator reported that Deputy Entner is now making County Road B -2 one of his principle focuses for traffic enforcement. The Administrator reviewed the traffic assessment report prepared by Deputy Entner noting that the results of the Deputy's speed study show that there is a speeding issue on County Road B -2. It is Deputy Entner's position, however, that increased enforcement will address the problem. In addition to enforcement, the County will locate one of their speed boards to this area. Mugs Nardini, County Road B -2, indicated that the residents on B -2 have tried to get help with this problem for the past 20 years. She indicated that the Sheriff's Department patrols the area for a few days and are then gone. She also encouraged that traffic enforcement monitor the area during early morning and later afternoon commuting times. The Administrator reported that Deputy Entner has proven to be one of the best traffic enforcement officers that the County has had, and recommended that the first step be for increased enforcement along this street. Fahey noted that if the enforcement does not resolve the problem, the issue will be brought back to the Council for fiirther consideration. ACCESSORY The City Planner reviewed a proposed ordinance amendment which would BUILDINGS create a standard relative to the construction of oversized garages /accessory buildings in relation to backyard area. This standard °! 410 provides that garages /accessory buildings over 1,000 square feet are limited to a maximum of 10% of backyard space. The Planner noted that the City's 1,500 square foot maximum would remain in place. Btesener noted that the ordinance amendment would preclude a 120 square foot storage shed for those properties that have received CUP approval of garage /accessory building space over 1,000 square feet in size. Btesener questioned the City's ability to enforce that prohibition. Fahey stated that he was not offended by the small storage sheds and say no reason to prohibit them. Btesener agreed. The City Planner noted that the two issues are separate. The City could proceed with implementing specific standards for regulating oversized garages /accessory buildings in relation to backyard size, while continuing to allow one small storage shed per property.
