October 27, 2004
Honorable Mayor and Council Members
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117 -1633
RE: County Road B2 Traffic
Dear Council Members:
The traffic on County Road B -2 between Edgerton and Arcade is out of
control! Once known as "B -2 Speedway" it is now the "L.C. Dragstrip ".
The majority of vehicles on this straight stretch exceed the speed limit, many
by far above the 30•MPH limit. Drivers who observe that limit are passed by
speeders in spite of the double yellow line.
We have requested, since the proposal of Gervais Hills, those studies of traffic
speed and numbers be undertaken but those requests have been to no avail.
Soon many worker cars, trucks, construction machinery, etc. will be present.
Finally, there will be, no doubt, 24 -36 more cars from the 2 -3 -car garages in
the development when it is completed.
For many years our pleas to Ramsey County for speed control aid fell on deaf
ears. Now that we are "just a city street of Little Canada" we petition you,
our city managers, to undertake on our behalf at least some form of relief.
Since we already live with an impossible situation, we request some action to
be initiated as soon as possible rather than after this new onslaught is
completed.
Our requests, of course, begin with a three -way stop at Greenbrier or the
new cul -de -sac, more and larger speed limit signs and an increased police
patrol.
The street is far too dangerous for the numbers of hikers, bikers, joggers and
dog - walkers who avail themselves of our designated paths. We also have to
face intimidation as we cross for our mail boxes.
We would appreciate it if you will place this matter on the agenda for the
appropriate November meeting; the 10`h or the 24th and notify us of the
proper date.
Thank you for your cooperation.
3
