MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
DECEMBER 19, 2001
2002
BUDGET
The Council discussed the permit fee for temporary signs as well as the amount
of deposit. LaValle suggested that in addition to the sign deposit, the
ordinance include a provision allowing either the Sheriffs Department or
Public Works Department to impound temporary signs if they are not removed
at permit expiration. Anderson pointed out that typically the owner of the sign
is not the permit holder. Therefore, notifying sign owners that their signs are
going to be impounded may be difficult given that most signs are rented.
The City Administrator reported that currently if signs are left displayed after a
permit expires, property owners are notified to remove the signs. if this is not
done, citations are issued. The amount of the fine is determined when the
citation goes to court. It was the consensus of the Council to not include the
provision for impounding signs at this time. Staff was also instructed to
modify the sign permit to require disclosure of the sign owner as well as the
property owner renting the sign.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2001 -12 -280 - ESTABLISHING A TEMPORARY
SIGN PERMIT FEE OF 52.00 PER DAY WITH A MINIMUM PERMIT
FEE OF 525.00 AND A MAXIMUM OF 550.00 AS WELL AS
ESTABLISHING 5200.00 DEPOSIT FOR TEMPORARY SIGNS TO I3E
REFUNDED IF ALL ORDINANCE AND PERMIT REQUIREMENTS
ARE MET
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (4) Fahey, Scatze, Montour, Anderson.
Nays (1) LaValle. Resolution declared adopted.
Fahey opened the Public Hearing to consider adoption of the 2002 Budget.
There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on the
Budget.
Upon motion by Montour, seconded by LaValle, the public hearing was
closed.
Mrs. Scatze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2001- 12 -28/ - APPROVING THE 2002 TAX LEVY
FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA IN THE AMOUNT OF
5I, 929, 291.00
