The circumstances and
communication surrounding the length of time that it was to
be rented and the urgency of the pick up date are unfortunate.
Please find attached a copy of the original rental agreement.
It called for a 10 day rental. After that time I personally called to
verify the pick up of the sign. I was informed to leave it "as long
as possible ". Little did we, Dollar Signs, know that they meant as
long as the new sign code would permit The nature of the tem-
porary sign industry fluctuates quickly with so many individual
municipalities. Keeping current on the changes is a priority for
us but as our rental agreement states, the ultimate responsibility
for securing permission rests on the renter.
Unbeknown to our sign shop, a change in Little Canada's sign
code the previous month mandated that they secure the removal
of the sign with a $200 deposit which would be withheld after
30 days of use of the sign. Our shop was not informed of the
need for removal of the sign before 31 days. As a result, JR'S
POWERHOUSE GYM lost their deposit
As a small business myself, I understand the value of $200. As
an image development designer I also understand the importance
of appearances and compliance with codes. I am sure that JR'S
POWERHOUSE GYM feels the same way.
Thanks is extended in advancd for the council's sympathetic recon-
sideration for my client considering the newness of the code enforce-
ment and the miscommunications surrounding this event. Reimbursement
of the deposit would be greatly appreciated.
Very Sincerely,
Curtis
Owner of Dollar Signs
6
iE
