provide Westerhaus the same group life insurance coverage that is provided to all other City <br />employees. City further agrees to enroll Westerhaus in long -term disability coverage <br />effective the first full month of employment in a manner consistent with other employees. <br />The cost of long -term disability coverage is Westerhaus' responsibility. <br />9. DUES AND SUBSCRIPTIONS. City will budget and pay the professional dues, <br />subscriptions, and licensure for Westerhaus for his continued participation in national, <br />regional state, and local associations necessary and desirable for his continued professional <br />participation, growth and advancement and for the good of City. Enrollment in these <br />organizations shall be reviewed and approved by the City Administrator. <br />10. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. City will budget and pay the travel (when not using a <br />City vehicle) and subsistence expenses of Westerhaus for professional and official travel for <br />meetings and occasions adequate to continue the professional development of Westerhaus and <br />to adequately pursue necessary official and other committees thereof which employee serves <br />as a member. Westerhaus will use good judgment in his outside activities, so he will not <br />neglect his primary duties to City. City will also budget for and pay the travel and subsistence <br />expenses of Westerhaus for short courses, or seminars necessary for his professional growth <br />and for the good of City, as approved by the City Administrator. <br />11. TERMINATION AND SEVERANCE PAY. In the event that Westerhaus is terminated by <br />the City during such time that Westerhaus is willing and able to perform the duties of Building <br />Official, then in that event, the City will pay Westerhaus a lump sum cash payment equal to <br />one month of aggregate salary if termination occurs within the first three years of employment <br />with the City. Payment of severance benefit is conditioned upon Westerhaus' execution of a <br />full release, in a form that is acceptable to the City, of any and all claims arising out of his <br />employment relationship with the City. Any severance payments will be made without a <br />matching deferred compensation payment from the City. In addition to said severance pay, <br />Westerhaus shall be paid for any accrued and unused vacation. No compensation shall be <br />given for any unused sick leave. However, in the event Westerhaus is terminated because of <br />his conviction for any illegal act involving personal gain to himself or his failure to maintain <br />3 <br />
