EXHIBIT A <br />November, 2002 <br />CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />Position Title: Building Official <br />Department: Protective Inspections <br />Accountable To: City Administrator <br />POSITION SUMMARY <br />The Building Official will implement, administer, supervise, and manage the issuance of all <br />building permits for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Responsible for the <br />administration and enforcement of all construction - related codes, including the Uniform Building <br />Code as well as mechanical, plumbing, and fire codes. The position will perform plan reviews, <br />inspections, and code compliance activities related to building development. <br />This position will be shared with the City of Falcon Heights. The Building Official will also <br />serve in the capacity of Fire Marshal for Falcon Heights. <br />ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF TIIE JOB <br />1. Conducts inspections of new or remodeled buildings for compliance with applicable <br />codes and ordinances governing construction, plumbing, mechanical, housing and zoning. <br />A. Consistently and fairly interprets codes in a professional manner. <br />B. Conducts inspections in a businesslike and impartial manner that commands the <br />respect of contractors and property owners. <br />C. Makes inspections as scheduled so as to avoid causing unnecessary delays in <br />construction. <br />2. Assures review and approval of all requests for building or remodeling permits and issues <br />appropriate permits. <br />A. Checks plans for compliance with existing building, plumbing and zoning <br />requirements. <br />B. As needed, reviews requests with Department Heads (Fire Marshal, Public Works <br />Director, Planner) to ensure proper interpretation and implementation of City <br />policies, plans and programs. <br />C. Calculates Building Permit fees including park charges, Metro SAC, local SAC <br />
