MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 9, 2002 <br />Johnson reported that he has tried to put all materials inside buildings. <br />However. given the length ofthe steel studs, transfer into a building would <br />have to occur by hand rather than with a forklift. Johnson requested that <br />he be allowed to store the steel studs that are over 14 feet in length <br />outdoors. He also asked that he be allowed to utilize the three -sided <br />building for storage. <br />Fahey pointed out the direction that the Council gave at its April 24h <br />meeting that there was to be no outdoor storage on this site, until such <br />time as the Council considers and approves a rezoning of the back portion <br />of the property. Fahey asked the status of that rezoning effort. <br />Johnson indicated that he has submitted an application for concept review <br />of a rezoning and property division. The Planning Commission will be <br />reviewing this concept al their meeting on Thursday. <br />Fahey pointed out the previous discussion in April relative to allowing <br />outdoor storage on the back portion of the property contingent upon <br />redevelopment of the front property. He noted that the Council discussed <br />a sunset provision on the outdoor storage in the event the front property is <br />not redeveloped. <br />Scalze asked if Johnson planned to change the doors on his buildings so <br />that the longer steel studs could be moved inside. Johnson replied that he <br />did not. His hope is that the rezoning and property division will be <br />approved and that he will he allowed outdoor storage on the back portion <br />of the property <br />Fahey asked if the steel studs could be placed in the three -sided building. <br />Johnson reported that all the buildings are full, including the three -sided <br />building. Johnson asked that he be allowed to store the steel studs <br />outdoors. He noted that they are in the back of the property and are not <br />visible [ram the street. <br />Fahey pointed out that the Council made an interim agreement with <br />Johnson back in April. However, Johnson did not abide by the agreement <br />and now is back to the Council asking that the City accommodate him and <br />allow the outdoor storage. <br />Johnson reported that he made a mistake for which he apologizes. <br />Johnson asked the Council to change their April direction and allow the <br />outdoor storage as well as the use of the three -sided building. Whatever <br />the Councils decision, Johnson indicated that he would abide by it. <br />
