INCREASE THE NATURAL SURVEILLANCE
It is also recommended that you somehow increase the surveillance of the lot. This could
be accomplished by installing some windows in the building adjacent to the parking
areas. Many owners choose to put a break room near the employee parking area so that
everyone keeps an eye out for employee vehicles. If an outdoor break area is needed,
consider putting it beside the loading dock or near the corner of the lot where there are
two unusable parking spaces. This option puts employees in the lot for smoke breaks and
other breaks and will cut down on the theft from auto and vandalism of vehicles and
property. If you are to place the break area in the southeastern tip of your lot it is
essential to provide some lighting down there.
If you have any questions about this review or would like me to visit the site again to go
through the building for additional security recommendations feel free to contact me at
the Crime Prevention Unit at 651- 490 -4503.
