Hanson, Joel
From: Gulden, Tim [Tim.Gulden @CO.RAMSEY.MN.US]
lent: Friday, July 19, 2002 11:15 AM
fo: 'joel .hanson @ci.little- canada.mn.us'
Subject: RE: Crime Prevention Review of GCO Carpet
Joel,
That does change things a bit. Due to the high dollar value of marine
products and the propensity for vandalism, the cameras and lighting become a
little higher priority. Since the boats are mobile by trailer, special
consideration should be made before purchasing a gate. Perhaps a solid
piece) metal gate versus the standard double gate would be a good choice.
This would prevent the cutting of the padlock and driving the whole boat out
the driveway.
Children also like to break into these places and climb up on the boats and
play. One incident I recall is the spraying of fire extinguishers all over
the place.
A policy recommendation to boat owners would be to remove all items of value
before leaving the boat for repairs. As common sense as that would appear,
many people would over look it.
If the building owner would like to meet, I can certainly review these
things and other security recommendations with him.
Original Message
From: joel .hanson @ci.little - canada.mn.us
[mailto:joel.hanson@ci.little-canada.mn.usj
Sent: Friday, July 19, 2002 10:58 AM
o: Tim.Gulden @CO.RAMSEY.MN.US
object: RE: Crime Prevention Review of GCO Carpet
Thanks Tim.
The area is proposed for the storage of boats for repair. The goal was to
screen it from view from the right of way which conflicts with your goals of
openess for viewing. Any comments on that or modifications that you would
make to your report.
Joel
> Original Message
> From:Gulden, Tim [SMTP:Tim.Gulden @CO.RAMSEY.MN.US]
> Sent: Friday, July 19, 2002 10:49 AM
> To: Joel Hanson (E -mail)
> Subject: Crime Prevention Review of GCO Carpet
> Hi Joel,
> Here is a review of the property you mentioned. I put it together in
> somewhat of a hurry due to your deadline. Hopefully it is thorough enough
> for your needs. I will be on vacation next week and will return on July
> 29th if you need any further explanation. I will also put a copy in the
> mail for you and the property owner.
> Thanks for the opportunity to put some of this CPTED training to use right
> away. Hopefully there will be many more opportunities in the future.
>
> Have a great weekend!
«GCO Building.doc» « File: GCO Building.doc »
