Hanson At the June 12, 2002 City Council Meeting the Council rejected the 2002 Street and Utility Improvement projects. At that time we indicated that we still needed to accomplish some work yet this year. One of those projects is the relocation of a portion of the sanitary sewer in Market Place Drive to accomidate the construction of the addition to Garden Terrace. We requested proposals from the following contractors: Palda & Son (2002 Street Project Bid) Julian Johnson Construction RO -SO Contracting St Paul Utilities Capra's Utilities Engineers Estimate $71,250 $48,804 $89,170 $116,758 no- proposal $53,185 Based on the above Julian Johnson is the low proposal. They are also the contractor who is doing the utility work as part of the Garden Terrace addition. We are still negotiating with them to delete the seeding and have them install sod since this work will not be completed in time to establish grass prior to the end of the growing season. As a result this cost may change and if it increases above the amount authorized we will bring it back for Council additional review and approval. The cost for this work was included in the budget for the 2002 Street and Utility Relocation that was rejected. Based on the above it is requested that the City Council authorize staff to enter into a contract with Julian Johnson Construction to relocate a portion of the Market Place Drive sanitary sewer at a cost of $48,804.
