MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 30, 2008
conducted RFP's for both legal and auditing services. The result of the
RFP for legal services is that the firm of Kelly and Fawcett was selected as
the City Attorney for both civil and prosecution services. Blesener noted
that the firm of Sweeney, Borer & Sweeney had served as the City
Attorney for the past 26 years and did a fine job. However, the RFP
process will result in cost savings for legal services.
Patrick Kelly stated that it was an honor to serve as Little Canada's City
Attorney noting that the City has an excellent reputation as a community
of vision and cooperation.
FINAL Mayor Blesener opened the Public Hearing to consider the Final Plat for
PLAT - Whispering Pines which consists of eight single-family homes located at
WHISPERING 685 and 693 LaBore Road. The Mayor noted that the City Planner, City
PINES Engineer, and Planning Commission recommended approval subject to
conditions.
The City Planner reported that the Preliminary Plat and a Variance for cul-
de-sac length were approved by the Council. The City directed the longer
cul-de-sac in order to widen the proposed lots. The developer has now
applied for Final Plat and is agreeable to complying with all staff
recommendations.
Steve Benning, Rim Lake Construction, described the grading and
drainage plan as well as the additional landscaping that has been added to
buffer the Swale on the west edge of the development. There has been
some additional landscaping added to the east edge of the plat as well.
Allan commended Benning on his working with the neighborhood to try to
address their concerns.
Blesener pointed out that the property will not be clear-cut when it is
developed, but rather custom graded as lots are sold and houses designed.
Benning stated that this was correct. Trees will be removed when grading
is done for the street and utilities, but each lot will be custom graded based
on house design. It was also noted that the driveway for the Steinert home
will be relocated to the new street as will the driveway for the other home
at the northwest corner of the plat.
There was no one else present wishing to comment on this matter.
Upon motion by Allan, seconded by McGraw, the public hearing was
closed.
2
