Minnesota 55117 (651) 766 - 4057 <br />TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Jim Morelan, Fire Chief <br />DATE: May 17, 2002 <br />RE: Fireworks <br />1 am concerned with the potential fire dangers to our City relative to the <br />recent legalization of certain fireworks by the State of Minnesota. I would <br />recommend regulation similar to what the cities of Spring Lake Park, <br />Mounds View and Blaine are implementing (copy is attached). <br />I also would recommend a substantial fee of approximately $1150 annually. <br />I feel this is a reasonable fee based on the attached estimates of regulatory <br />costs. <br />The fast approaching 4th of July holiday requires that we act as soon as <br />possible.
