Ortega Victoria Reinhardt Janice Rettman Jan Wiessner Paul Kirkwold County Manager You may have read in the newspaper that the District Court Judges decided recently to stop holding court sessions at the Maplewood Suburban Court. The Courts have had a long -time concern that the facility is not adequate to serve the needs of citizens who use it and are also concerned about the present level of security for the public and court employees. We are writing this joint memo to assure you that both the District Court and the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners are committed to addressing the concerns about this court location and will be seeking your help, input, and guidance as we go forward. We will begin meeting the week of March 18th as a Joint County Board /District Court Bench Committee to review safety concerns expressed by the Bench and persons using the site. If the security concerns can be addressed, the Court may be able to continue to conduct proceedings in Maplewood while we seek solutions to provision of a suitable suburban Ramsey County court site. We view you as integral players in this discussion. We will be seeking your input and sharing with you the thoughts of this committee.
