Mn/DOT's cost participation
policy will apply.
1) Greg and Joel said that the City of Little Canada is planning a pedestrian tunnel under
Edgerton Street just south of the proposed construction (south of County Road D). They
asked Mn/DOT to design Edgerton Street to accommodate future construction of their
pedestrian tunnel. We agreed to design a deeper Edgerton Street storm sewer that will be
able to drain the low point of their pedestrian tunnel under Edgerton Street.
ACTION: Greg will provide preliminary drawings and grades indicating the city's
pedestrian tunnel location and it's low point elevation.
ACTION: Rod will provide stonn sewer profile elevations indicating the flow line
grade that Mn/DOT could provide at the south end of the proposed Edgerton
construction.
2) The group discussed construction of a combined pedestrian/bike trail along Edgerton
Street. Joel said that there was not enough room along Edgerton Street in Little Canada
for an off street trail system. Dan wanted Edgerton Street designed so that he could
stripe it with a continuous 12 foot wide center left turn lane, two 12 foot wide through
lanes, and adequate shoulders. Since an off road trail was not an option, Dan requested
two 10 foot wide shoulders. The additional width would carry the regional trail, and
could be used as right tum lanes at County Road D. Mn/DOT agreed to design Edgerton
to a 56 foot wide urban design (10 +12 +12 +12 +10). .It was also agreed to widen the
proposed Edaerton bridge: it will now be designed to a 48 feet width (6 +12 +12 +12 +6
barrier to barrier), not including the separated 8 foot wide sidewalk. The continuous
center left turn lane will be canned across the bridge, and there will be two 6 foot
shoulders. Edgerton street will narrow from 56 feet to 48 feet at the approach panel
using 15:1 tapers. Marc said that the additonal width for a wider bridge is directly
- 2 1 -
