Glanzer, Kathy
From: Jagoe, Jessica
Sent: Thursday, January 17, 2002 11:33 AM
To: Glanzer, Kathy; Hanson, Joel
Subject: FW: Norm's Tire Sales, zoning and building
Original Message
From: reiling @mediaone.net [mailto:reiling @mediaone.netj
Sent: Thursday, January 17, 2002 10:48 AM
To: sgrittman; m- fahey; manderson113; montourrick; cityhall
Cc: reiling @mediaone.net
Subject: Norm's Tire Sales, zoning and building
To all City of Little Canada Planning Commission and Council Members:
I recently attended a planning commission meeting on 1/10/02, regarding the above listed subject, to voice my concerns.
The proposal was tabled for 30 days to allow the applicant to provide more details regarding their request.
I was able to talk to the guys from Norm's after the meeting to discuss my thoughts.
I thought I would just follow up with this note to let you know my concerns.
First let me say that I am a neighbor and a customer of Norm's. I do appreciate there business as well as Norm's
dedication to the neat upkeep of this property.
My concern, which is shared with others in our community, is as follows:
Norm's is located in a predominately residential area and next to City Hall, parks and walking trails.
In typical city planning, this would not be the ideal location for commercial automotive related use, however I do
understand that when cities get developed over time there is usually some nonconformity's that occur.
I am not opposed the Norm's Business continuing in the current capacity, or even there proposal to build a additional
building to store some of their vehicles.
I am concerned with the possibility of increasing and or intensifying the automotive use on this site.
Please consider long range planning goals of the city. As you know properties eventually change hands, and business
plans change over time as well.
Please also consider the Little Canada's Architectural Guidlines for commercial bussiness within the city. Requiring all to
adhere to these guidlines when building new and retrofitting existing buildings to match will ultimatly improve the quality
these properties.
Sincerely,
Jay Reiling
Noel Drive, Little Canada
612- 804 -0474
1
