GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT BUDGET (pages 59 -57)
Accounting & Administration
Computer Hardware /Software Upgrades
Staff is currently reviewing the purchase of three new computers. This is consistent with past
practice of replacing two to three aged machines per year with an average life of approximately five
years. Staff is also revisiting the possibility of entering a joint powers agreement with Roseville to
provide IT services. If this avenue is pursued, it may impact the type of equipment being purchased.
It is also our goal to get the Public Works Garage and Parks Maintenance Garage set up with a
computer. This will allow for direct access to appointment calendars, work order system, e -mail, and
fax services.
City Center Wiring
This is for the wiring necessary for a generator if the City Center has to be used as an emergency
command center.
Fire Department
Turn -Out Gear
$7,178 represents the approximate annual cost of on -going replacement of firefighter boots, helmets,
coats, pants, etc.
Building Repairs
The building is aging to the point where various replacement and maintenance needs to be addressed
(carpeting, brick/mortar sealing).
Radios /800 mhz
New Countywide radio system is expected to be in place in 2005, requiring replacement of all current
radios. Approximate total cost is $100,000. Preliminary indications are that the County will be
providing half of that funding as well as infrastructure costs of towers and dispatching equipment.
Replace Truck #12
Approximate cost for replacing current 1982 pumper. The Fire Department Truck Committee will be
assessing replacement needs as well as overall vehicle replacement schedule in coming months.
Old Fire Hall
Replace Retaining Wall
The wooden wall on the west side of the building along the driveway was budgeted for replacement
in 2003. This work was put off until 2004 to coincide with similar retaining wall work on the
Country Drive Trail connection.
3
