Tables and Chairs
The existing inventory of tables and chairs are showing their age and wear. The cost to replace a
significant portion of the stock is $4,000. Discussions are in progress with the LCRA to share this
cost. For budget purposes we have scheduled the City's share at 50 %.
Parks & Recreation
Replace 1992 4WD F250 Truck
This vehicle will run until it dies. At that time, we will replace it. Therefore, it will be shown in the
current budget year until replacement occurs.
Replace 1994 Jacobsen Truckster
Listed as $23,000 item in preliminary 2004 Budget due to the desire to add a vertical lift box feature.
Staff wants additional time to evaluate type of lift to maximize use by all City departments. Existing
Mitsubishi with lift will be retained until decision is made.
Retro Fit 72" Mower w /Sweeper
Approved in 2003 Budget as a $3,000 replacement of a walk- behind sweeper. $6,000 will enable us
to mount a power sweeper on an existing mower /tractor giving us a sweeper that can be utilized for
additional tasks in addition to more efficient ice rink maintenance.
Sod Cutter (used)
This used unit will eliminate rental and current availability problems. Additional uses for this tool
are being identified with the maintenance of ballfieid infield areas and bocce ball courts, as well as
the traditional turf needs of a sod cutter for periodic repair and maintenance.
Large Area Broadcast Spreader
Listed in the 2003 budget as a 2004 expenditure. Availability to borrow this equipment may not be
available after next year. Current grounds maintenance practices resulted in borrowing this
equipment approximately 8 times in 2003 thereby allowing us to avoid /postpone this expenditure.
Repair/Expand Parks Signs
Approved as a $5,000 expenditure for 2002 to replace signs that were destroyed by vandalism. Staff
has been evaluating a different style metal sign to replace the missing wooden style. Signage at the
new Rondeau Park would also be added.
Upgrade Trash Receptacles
Budgeted at $3,000 for 2003 to replace several steel barrels at park shelters with sturdier /more
appealing containers. Staff would like to expand that type of receptacle at other highly visible areas
by the Pioneer Park building and also equip all existing barrels with dome lids to prevent premature
rusting and birds and animals from spreading garbage.
4
