MINUTES <br />RONDEAU <br />PARK <br />EDGERTON <br />STREET <br />CROSSING <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />September 4, 2003 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission <br />of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 4" day of September, 2003 in the <br />Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said City. <br />Chair Sackett Glaser called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the <br />Commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Ms. Ginger Sackett Glaser, Chair <br />Mr. James Broten <br />Ms. Gretchen Crary <br />Mr. David Gray <br />Mr. Craig Larson <br />Mr, Robert Schabacker <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />Ms. Kris Pechman, Recording Secretary <br />Gray recommended that the minutes of the meeting on August 7, 2003 be approved as <br />submitted <br />Motion seconded by Larson. <br />Motion carried 7— 0. <br />Sanders stated that not much work on Rondeau Park has occurred since July. Concrete curb and <br />gutter was poured around the play area and a drinking fountain was installed, The completion <br />date for paving is scheduled around September 19. <br />The trail connections from Jackson Street down to the Water Works trail and on Country Drive <br />should be completed yet this fall or in the spring. <br />Sackett Glaser stated that at the workshop meeting held on August 27, the Council asked the <br />Commission to reconsider their recommendation to have an oft- street trail on Edgerton Street <br />from the power line easement down to Allen Avenue. The Council felt that due to budget <br />concerns, an on- street trail was a better option on Edgerton Street especially since the trail will <br />eventually be continued on the power line easement through the Heinel property to Pioneer <br />Park. The Council commented that if the off - street option is pursued, the Heinel property option <br />should be eliminated altogether. <br />The Commission expressed concern about the on- street option since many children would be <br />using the trail to access Pioneer and Spooner parks and due to the high speed and high amount <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />-2- <br />
