COMMUNITY PRIDE
1953 — 2003
515 Litt le Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
www.ci.little-canacla.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director
DATE: September 17, 2003
RE: 2003 Street Reconstruction and Utility
Change Order No. 1
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Jim LiValle
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
13111 Blesener
/IDIVIINLS°[RAI'OR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached is a copy of Change No. 1 for the 2003 Street Reconstruction and Utility Improvements
Project. During the excavation and grading of Market Place Drive, unforeseen soil conditions
were encountered near Rice Street (where the old Burger King and Pizza Hut were located). The
material removed was a mix of concrete debris, trees, and stumps. The additional material was
hauled off -site to a landfill that would accept the material. Because of the location of this
material we had to excavate (subcut) an additional 3 feet depth in this area. A total of 3,956.31
cubic yards of material had to be removed and disposed of at a rate of $8.85 per cubic yard for a
total of $35,013.34. The City Engineer inspected the work performed by Park Construction in
accordance with Change Order No. 1 and finds it to be in compliance with the specifications, and
contract documents.
Based on the above, I recommend Council approval of Change Order No. 1 in the amount
of $35,013.34.
H: \OregS \Pay Estimates \Change Order No.i Park.doc
