August 20, 2003
Mr. Jeff Gibbons, P.E.
Project Manager
Minnesota Department of Transportation
Metropolitan Division
1500 West County Road B2
Roseville, Minnesota 55113
Dear Mr. Gibbons:
The Ramsey County Public Works Department and the City of Little Canada have
continued to discuss drainage issues associated with the Edgerton Bridge reconstruction
project and the larger "Unweave the Weave" construction project. Based on our
discussions the County and City offer the following information.
1. Ramsey County and the City of Little Canada request that the Minnesota Department
of Transportation (Mn /DOT) modify the design of the Edgerton Bridge plans and the
Unweave the Weave plans to accommodate additional drainage areas in the City of
Little Canada. The additional areas to be accommodated are those identified by the
City Engineer, Lee Elfering, on his map dated June 11, 2003. (Copy attached)
2. Ramsey County and the City of Little Canada acknowledge that these modifications
may result in additional costs to both agencies in accordance with the Mn/DOT Cost
Participation Policy. The County and City are willing to participate in these additional
costs based on application of the policy.
3. Mn/DOT will not need to design the drainage system along Edgerton Street in order
to accommodate a future tunnel. The Edgerton Street drainage system should be
designed to include future drainage from Edgerton Street to the south as shown on the
June 11, 2003 drainage map.
4. The proposed future development west of Edgerton Street is predominately
residential. Lee Elfering has previously related this information to the drainage design
staff at TKDA.
5
