Judge Maas <br />Mr. Victor Maduike Oramalu was n:ferrod M Project Remand for diversion on 424103, after being charged with <br />Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor, a Gross Misdemeanor, It is alleged that on March 8, 2003. Ramsey County Sheriff's <br />Deputies, along with two underage buyers, weft performing alcohol compliance checks in the city of Little Canada, One <br />of the underage buyers entered the Oasis Market located on Rice Street in Little Canada and was able to purchase a twelve <br />pack of beer from the clerk later identified as the defendant In speaking with the offiders, the defendant admitted to <br />selling the alcolwl to the underage buyer because he thought that the buyer looked over eighteen. <br />Regarding this offense, Mr. Oramalu admits to the charge against him. He agrees to the facts as they are presented in the <br />Police report awl s$ atec that heis grateful for the opportunity ofdiversion. Heqtatc that, at the lirne of thk offense, he <br />thought that the legal drinking age was eighteen and he felt that the underage buyer was over eighteen years old. He now <br />knows that the legal drinking age is twenty-one. <br />A St. Pau I, NCIC and BCA record check teptrts no prior convictions. <br />Mr. VictorMaduikc Oramalty age 36, appeared in our office on April 25, 2003, Ida social history interview and repotted <br />the following information: he was Natant Enugu, Nigeria, and cane to the U.S. in November of 1998. 14e presently bolds <br />permanent resident status. He has been in the metro area fir the last four years and is currently living in White Boar Lake <br />with his cousin. He states that all of his fwnily members, neluding his wife, are still in Nigeria, but he does speak to them <br />on a regular basis. <br />Mr. Oremalu states that he graduated from high school in Nigeria in 1983. He attended the University of Morin in Nigeria <br />and now tmkls a dente in Civil Enginaring. He is a full time student at Nord, Hennepin Cotannunity College in their <br />Construction Management program. Mr. Granada is currently working a tenlporaeyjob as a home. health care worker and <br />is looking for full time work. <br />Mr. Omrnalu reports being ingoodhealth. He reports no family history of chemical dependency or mental illness. Mr. <br />Oramalu reports no drug or alcohol use. Mr. Orantata states that he does not gamble. <br />In sutnmary, the defendant appears to be an appropriate candidate for diversion. He admits to the charge and <br />expresses a willingness to address his behavior. If diverted, Mr. Orernain agrees to complete the following: <br />1. Complete 53 hours community service work at a nonprofit work site, pre-approved by Proptct Renault!, <br />2, Maintain weekly contact with Reject Remand and attend office visits as scheduled. <br />3. Remain law-abiding in all respects. <br />
