MINUTES CITY COUNCIL JUNE 24, 1998 Fahey suggested to Chester that next year she come in to discuss alternate plans with the Council. However, for this year, unless the majority of the Council does not wish to go forward with the goose management program, it will proceed. Fahey stated that he did not want to wait for a five -year study to be concluded, while in the meantime, residents are inconvenienced and City parks are desecrated. Chester asked that the City not take all the geese this year. Fahey stated that he understood the depth of feeling that Chester has on the issue, and indicated that next year the Council would consider other options. However, the City has a nuisance which it must address. RECESS At this point in the meeting, 9:45 P.M., Council took a short recess. The meeting was reconvened at 9:52 P.M. CONSENT AGENDA Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 98 -6 -153 — APPROVING THE CONSENT AGENDA WHICH CONTAINED THE FOLLOWING: *APPROVING THE TEMPORARY LIQUOR LICENSE FOR THE CANADIAN DAYS COMMITTEE FOR A UGUST 7, 8, 9, 1998; *APPROVING THE TEMPORARY SIGN PERMIT FOR CANADIAN DAYS AND WAIVING THE PERMIT FEE; *CLOSING FUND 801 AND TRANSFERING THE NEGATIVE FUND BALANCE TO THE GENERAL FUND The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. Ayes (5) Morelan, LaValle, Fahey, Scalze, Pedersen. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. GUERIN The City Attorney submitted for Council action a resolution initiating PROPERTY acquisition of the Guerin property located at 2822/2826 Rice Street as well as a resolution establishing just compensation for the property based on the appraised value. The Attorney reported that these resolutions should be considered and acted on by the City's Economic Development Authority. Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: 19 -8-
