BIVIP Name: Outfall Inspection Program <br />Unique ID: 6 -03 -R <br />MCM: #6 — Pollution Prevention /Good Housekeeping For <br />Municipal Operations <br />o{ tattle Cant, <br />CCMP1UIIIN PRIDE <br />1953 - 2003 <br />Description: <br />The City currently operates a program of cleaning structural BMPs including catch basins (CBs), <br />storm water ponds and system outfalls. City staff inspects system components to look for sediment <br />and debris buildup and proper functioning of the system. The City will continue this program and <br />look for opportunities to improve the tracking of inspection results and incorporate the required <br />illicit discharge detection component into the program. <br />Justification: <br />This program will ensure proper and efficient functioning of the City storm water conveyance and <br />treatment system. In addition, the employee training components (BMP 6 -02 -R) will be an <br />expansion to the current program and will allow the City to better identify illicit discharges to the <br />system. This is a required BMP under Permit Part V.G.6.b. <br />Responsible Staff /Position: <br />Public Works Director 651.766.4049 <br />Measurable Goals: <br />1. Inspect at least 20% of system outfalls, sediment basins and ponds each year. <br />2. Record and track follow -up actions needed, assign a priority level and a timeline for addressing <br />the problem. <br />3. Record inspection findings for component inspected. <br />4. Record and track follow -up actions needed. <br />Implementation Schedule: <br />1. Re- evaluate inspection schedule following annual reporting results in March 2005. <br />2. Re- evaluate the inspection intervals and increase frequency if both Year 1 and Year 2 warranted <br />cleaning or maintenance. Reduce inspection frequency if cleaning or maintenance were not <br />needed in Year 1 or Year 2. <br />Education Program/Public Outreach Component: <br />1, Audience or audiences: City staff involved in storm water and water resource inspection and <br />maintenance activities. <br />2.
