<br /> <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To: Mayor Fischer and Members of the City Council <br /> <br />From: Eric Seaburg, City Engineer <br /> <br />Date: March 25, 2026 <br /> <br />Re: 2026 Little Canada Road Improvements – Monument Sign <br /> MnDOT Limited Use Permit <br /> <br />Action To Be Considered: <br />Motion to approve, table, or deny the following: <br />• Resolution authorizing Limited Use Permit (LUP) with the State of Minnesota, <br />Department of Transportation <br /> <br />Background: <br />The upcoming Little Canada Road Improvement Project will include an array of corridor <br />improvements, including wall-mounted gateway signs within each of the proposed roundabouts. <br />The wall-mounted gateway sign within the easterly roundabout that intersects with the I-35E <br />ramps is within the jurisdiction of MnDOT. MnDOT requires that the city enter into a Limited <br />Use Permit (LUP) 6280-0250 to further define long-term ownership and maintenance of the sign <br />structure after its initial installation. Staff has reviewed the Permit and finds that it is acceptable <br />and includes standard language. <br /> <br />Strategic Priority: <br />The planned corridor enhancements deliver on the following 2030 Strategic Plan objective: <br /> <br />• Delivering Dynamic Community Spaces <br />Little Canada desires to connect the community by linking trails and sidewalks and <br />creating a community building for public gatherings.
