MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MARCH 25, 2026 heard. He stated that they disagreed on many things but had productive conversations on those topics. He recognized that it was a difficult decision but understood her circumstances. Malone thanked Gutierrez for welcoming her as a new member and for her service to the community. Kwapick echoed the comments of the Council. He stated that Gutierrez was one of the members of the Council who welcomed him when he was appointed to the Council. He stated that they learned a lot together, and Gutierrez would often challenge him. He noted her strong convictions and believed that she would continue to contribute to the community. Mayor Fischer introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOL UTION NO. 2026-3-46 — A CCEPTING CO UNCILMEMBER GUTIERREZ'S RESIGNATION AND DECLARING A CITY COUNCIL VACANCY The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Miller. Ayes (4). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. COUNCIL REPORTS AND MEETING UPDATES Miller provided an update on a Metro Cities webinar he participated in, a tour of the 911 center, and the most recent meeting of the Cable Commission. He commented that, although time-consuming, it was very rewarding to be a part of the RFP process for the community building. Malone provided an update on the tour of the 911 call center, long-range planning meeting for the Fire Department, and the upcoming Northeast Youth and Family Services fundraising luncheon. Mayor Fischer provided additional updates on the Safe and Stable Communities group and its recent meetings and press releases. He recognized that White Bear Lake has had a fair amount of tragedy in the past few weeks and asked members of Little Canada to support that community.
