0.1 of Little Can
dao
COMMUNITY PRIDE
1953 - 2003
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 551174600
(651) 766.4029 / FAX: (651) 766 4048
wwwci.littie- canadaann.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: January 3, 2003
RE: Community Identity Workshop
&IAI'OR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Jim LaVaile
Mate Anderson
Rick Montour
Bill Blesener
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached is the action plan regarding the "Promotion of Little Canada's Identity ". You will note that we
have listed a number of items we already undertake to address this topic. Another factor to add to this
listing will be the activities associated with our 50 '11 Anniversary Celebration planned for this year. I am
also including a copy of our New Resident Brochure that should have been included on the action plan
listing.
I was remiss in contacting the other cities as to what they do to promote their community's identity. I
hope to have more information by Wednesday's meeting. Attached is the response I received from the
Roseville City Manager. I also talked with Arden Hills. He listed their activities as follows:
• City Banners
• City Pens and Lanyards
• Annual Town Meeting
• Newsletter
• New Resident Packet
• Community Celebration (Started with their 50th and the City has sponsored it for
three years. It is a one -day event that has focused on park development. They have
a parade and fireworks.)
• Coffee mugs, balloons, pencils
• They do not have a sister city.
I view this workshop as a general discussion as to what we now do and what we should be doing in the
future.
1
