Hanson, Joel
From: Beets, Neal
Sent: Friday, January 03, 2003 12:18 PM
To: Hanson, Joel
Cc: *RV_DepartmentHeads
Subject: RE:
Joel,
We don't have a specific "Promote Roseville's Identity" program. We have lots of ways that we do promote our identity as
a great place to live, work, and play for persons of all ages and backgrounds and income levels, that we carry out through
a variety of departments and projects and programs, many of which are probably similar to yours - such as
• our quarterly Roseville Business Link newsletter
• support for the Roseville Visitors Association
• project development master plans and campaigns, such as those related to Twin Lakes and Arona
redevelopments and the County C reconstruction, where resident meetings and workshops are held
• the annual Roseville Home and Garden Show
• the annual Open House at City Hall
• the Roseville WRAP, our quarterly (formerly bi- monthly) resident newsletter
• New Resident packets
• the NewsFax, our weekly media release
• cable channel 16 community service screens dealing with common safety issues and cultural, recreational
opportunities
• ourwebsite
• sponsoring and supporting healthy fun events such as New Year's Eve at the OVAL, National Night Out, Roseville
Raiders hockey at the Arena, Santa Cop, Free Domino's Pizza for a Working Home Smoke Detector program,
summer entertainment at the amphitheater, fire truck rides in the park, and Rosefest (not just the parade but all the
other events too)
• compassionate code compliance
• school liaison officers
• various department- issued brochures, such as the "Citizen Guide to the Comprehensive Plan" and our quarterly
"Experience the Best of Roseville" guide which compiles all the programs available through our P &R Department
(and then the other "half' of the brochure is the school district's community education programming)
• support for and partnerships with various standing and ad hoc citizen committees, commissions, task forces,
foundations, and volunteer groups - such as the Pathway Committee, Police Explorers, Fire Explorers, the Central
Park Foundation, the Recycling Task Force, Neighborhood Block Watch, the Community Center Task Force, the
Bird Club, the Historical Society, and numerous youth recreation groups.
Finally, or maybe first and foremost, we promote our identity through our employees and the positive customer service
they provide to residents every day in every way. In addition, employees promote Roseville's identity in their professional
capacity at local, regional and national trainings, conferences and meetings.
Hope this helps. If you need detail about any of the bullets, or have any questions, don't hesitate to call or write me or a
department head.
Neal
-2
