2000 -33327
NARRATIVE
On Friday, 12- 29 -00, I conducted thirteen alcohol compliance checks in the city of Little
Canada along with Deputy Tony Waldo. We met with two twenty year old U of M
buyers, numbers seventy -one and seventy -two, at the patrol station in Shoreview where I
took a polaroid photo of each and photocopied their driver's licenses. A copy of these are
attached to this report along with the Law Inforcement Buy Report Form from each
establishment.
Of the thirteen businesses visited: one sold alcohol to the buyer(s), two were closed, and
the remaining ten asked for identification and refused any sale or admittance when the
buyer(s) said they didn't have any ID with them.
After every visit (pass or fail), I entered the business after the buyer(s) exited and
identified myself with wallet badge and department ID. I explained the alcohol compliance
check and answered questions about the process. I also left business cards and two
posters with the employee and /or manager with instructions to inform every clerk,
bartender, server, manager, owner, etc, about the visit. When a sale did take place, the
product was returned and the money retrieved.
The times and actual visits are as follows:
7:56 PM, My Le Hoa Chinese Restaurant at 2900 Rice St #360
Buyers #71 and #72 entered the restaurant and attempted to order beer from their server
after they were seated at a table. The male server asked them for ID and told them he
couldn't serve them any alcohol without showing ID.
7:59 PM, Moon Bay Liquors at 2900 Rice St
Buyer #71 entered the store and attempted to purchase a 12 pack of Bud -Lite from the
clerk at the counter. The male clerk asked the buyer for ID and refused the sale because
the buyer did not have any ID.
8:08 PM, Tierney's Liquor at 2760 Rice St
Buyer #72 entered the store and attempted to purchase a 12 pack of Bud -Lite from the
clerk at the counter. The male clerk asked the buyer for ID and refused the sale because
the buyer did not have any ID.
8:11 PM, MGM Liquor Warehouse at 2680 Rice St
Buyer #71 entered the store and attempted to purchase a 12 pack of Bud -Lite from the
clerk at the counter.
