MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaVaile
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048 Joel 12. Ilanson
Email: cityhall @ci.little- canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: January 19, 2001
RE: Final Payment to Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik & Associates
Attached is documentation from Jerry Bourden of Bonestroo that serves as the basis of
their offer to settle our outstanding claims. The key issues of this settlement are as
follows:
Unpaid Invoices and Interest —
Given the outstanding issues we had with our former engineers, I withheld payment on a
number of invoices totaling $21,562.95. We do owe this amount. Because of the delays
in payment, Bonestroo imposed $6,407.19 of interest charges related to the outstanding
invoices. They have agreed to forego this interest amount in their settlement offer.
Resolution of Arcade Intersection Reconstruction —
The City spent an additional $18,217.70 to design and install the median at the
intersection of Keller Parkway and Arcade Street. These costs include over $1,800 paid
to Howard R. Green for design services as well as construction costs. Bonestroo has
agreed to pay one half this amount or $8,458.85 as their share of these costs. Keeping in
mind that the City of Maplewood agreed to pay one half of these costs, this is a fair
resolution.
Mapping Upgrades —
We had authorized Bonestroo to upgrade our utility base maps in an electronic format
based on an estimated budget of $12,000 back in 1994. We had paid approximately
$9,800 to date for this upgrade with Bonestroo claiming an additional $14,702.13 for
completion of this work. The City did ask for some additional services resulting in over
Page 81
