Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
On Tuesday, December 18, 2001, I went to 182 Ryan Lane to inspect the area where the island is
to be installed along their Spruce Street entrance. It is my understanding that the landowner is
hesitant to install the island shown on their site plan because they believe it will block drainage
of this area.
During my inspection it was determined that the area where the proposed island is to be installed
is a little lower than the surrounding paved area creating a so- called bird bath. This does indicate
that drainage in this area is not the best, however, 1 do not believe it is bad enough to prohibit
installing the proposed island. I would suggest that the curb be installed only on the building
side of the island and taper to the street. Additional bituminous material could be placed
between the island and building to create positive drainage of this area.
During my inspection I also noticed a large stone in the boulevard area next to the curb at the
intersection of Ryan Lane and Spruce Street. This stone needs to be moved a minimum of 5 feet
from the curb line of each street to enable proper snow removal activities in this area.
Cc Mr. Evans
H: \GregS \182 Ryan Lane Memo.doc
