2556 Park Street
Little Canada, MN 55117
Phone (651) 484 -7569
December 18, 2001
City Council Members and Attending Residents
Little Canada, Minnesota 55117
RE: Proposed Townoffices:
Dear Council,
I apologize for not being able to attend this meeting in person, but as a UPS employee it is not
possible to get time off of work during the Christmas season.
As a resident living on Park Street, I am very concerned about the proposal to build Townoffices
and the effect the driveway access will have on the safety of my family as well as the families of
my neighbors.
After reviewing the minutes of the planning commission meeting (December 13, 2001), I believe
that there is not an accurate picture of the current traffic situation on Park Street, and not a
realistic assessment of the impact the driveway to the proposed Townoffice development would
have.
There are at times, very heavy levels of traffic that travel on Park Street. Many people that live in
the multiple housing units on Demont Street, as well as residents of the trailer home park cut over
from Demont to County road C, so they can access Rice Street at the stop light controlled
intersection of Rice and C. We also get traffic from the Hogsbreath using Park Street for access
to County Road C. Finally, on mornings when 35E is backed up, we have had streams of lost
drivers looking for a way around the congestion.
Park Street does not have adequate lighting for the current levels of traffic, and a very dangerous
hill where the proposed driveway would have access. The landscaping proposed as a barrier for
the 4 plex (December 13th Minutes) would additionally obstruct visibility and increase the danger.
I have been concerned about traffic on Park Street for several years now. I have thanked the
Ramsey County officers for patrolling our street, and I consistently park my car on the street to
hopefully slow traffic down.
