In the spring of this year, my now twelve year -old son was hit by a van while riding his bike at the
corner of Demont and Park Streets. Thankfully he was not seriously hurt. This accident was
primarily the fault of my son, but certainly the poor visibility at the intersection also was a
contributing factor.
We have small children in our home, as well as the homes of our neighbors at 2580, 2590, and
2600 Park street. There is also a family with small children and an in -home Day Care Center at
2602 Park Street; additionally, there is a home on Ruth Street with a large yard that borders Park
Street and they also have small children.
I am deeply concerned for the safety of my children and the children of my neighbors with the
current traffic situation on Park Street, and strongly feel the proposed driveway location and
additional traffic generated by the proposed townoffice development is not well thought out and
puts unacceptable risk to the safety of current Park Street residents. I feel the disregard of public
safety in the proposed design would be negligent, and sincerely hope my elected officials will
respect these concerns and do some additional investigation into the traffic issues Park Street
residents face.
If it is determined that development of this property is in the best interest of the City of Little
Canada, perhaps the City should offer some assistance to facilitate the purchase of the Anderson
property to provide access from Rice Street.
Todd A.
