CONTRACT FOR FIRE PROTECTION 2001 CITY OF LITTLE CANADA RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA WHEREAS, the City of Little Canada is authorized by law to provide fire protection for all of the property in said City, and WHEREAS, the Little Canada Fire Department, Incorporated, is a volunteer fire department, operating as a non -profit association under the laws of the State of Minnesota and owns certain fire equipment, trucks, etc., for fighting fires, NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Little Canada and the Little Canada Fire Department, Incorporated, hereinafter referred to as the City and the Fire Department, respectively, in consideration of the following provisions and covenants, do hereby enter into this contract and agreement on the day and date hereunto subscribed. 1. The City hereby engages the services of the Fire Department to answer fire calls and fight fires and generally to provide fire protection to public and private property within the City of Little Canada for a period of one (1) year commencing January I, 2001, and terminating December 31, 2001. 2. The Fire Department agrees to answer all tire calls directed to it by the public for assistance in fighting fires of any nature and description within the legal limits of the City. 3. The Fire Department will provide First Responder level sery ices. Services beyond First Responder will be provided by the State of Minnesota. 4. The City agrees to pay to the Fire Department for its services during the period above specified, and the Fire Department agrees to accept as full remuneration for its services during the said period, the sum of S187,789 payable in fourths with the first payment due upon the effective date of this contract. Subsequent payments to be due on April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st. 5. For 2001, the City shall pay to the Little Canada Volunteer Fire Relief Association a sum equal to 515,000 within 30 days of receipt of Fire State Aid from the State of Minnesota. 6. The Fire Department shall furnish the City by March 15th of the year following the current contract an accurate accounting of actual operating expenses for the year just completed. The Fire Department shall submit a proposed operating budget for 2002 to the City by August P` of the contract year. It is understood that this amount will be reviewed as part of the City's budget process. This review will result in the final contract amount for 2002. 7. The Fire Department shall duly record relevant facts and infouuation regarding each fire or hazardous materials incident to which it responds, and shall make such facts and information available to the City when requested. 8.
